Inspired by the Salem Witch Trials, UNDER AN EVIL HAND explores society’s pattern of slandering and demonizing women for their individuality and their autonomy. From sexuality to curiosity, creativity, and passion, women’s desires have often been treated as something to contain and to criticize. This shoot analyzes the danger and cruelty of these human imprints—sexism, misogyny, and in the case of the Salem Witch Trials, religion when used as a weapon for hate and control.
